TOURJETÉ Press Release, June 14, 2004

Learjet 31A whisks food and wine Lovers on unique "Ultimate Mansions of New England Weekend"

For immediate release:

In Newport, Rhode Island, they sailed on a 1937 America’s Cup yacht. In Vermont, they dined with the great-great grandsons of Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt. And in the Berkshires, they picked up kitchen secrets from the Chef of one of America’s finest small luxury hotels.

From June 3 to June 6, six guests winged across New England’s skies aboard "The Comet," a sleek, Learjet 31A - the Maiden Voyage of TOURJETÉ new luxury travel concept, "Exclusive Themed Journeys by Jet" provided by Trakair.

The Ultimate Mansions of New England Weekend is one of twelve themed journeys with multiple, luxury East Coast destinations offered by TOURJETÉ;

President/Founder Eric Weiss accompanied the group to its three destinations:

• The Inn at Shelburne Farms in Shelburne, Vermont
• Wheatleigh in Lenox, Massachusetts
• The Chanler at Cliff Walk in Newport, Rhode Island.

At Shelburne Farms in Vermont, the guests were treated to a private tour of the Farm Barn with Marshall Webb, the great-great grandson of Cornelius Vanderbilt, who now oversees the magnificent, 1400-acre estate on Lake Champlain with his brother, Alec. Dinner specialties in the dining room of the mansion included;

Ravioli with Peekytoe crab, a "Taste of Vermont" lamb, Local Artisanal Cheeses and Lemon-Scented Bread Pudding with Lavender Ice Cream.

Wheatleigh was the second mansion on the journey. Majestically situated in the Berkshire Mountains, the 20-room estate was designed after a 16th century Venetian palazzo by its owner in the late 1800’s. Activities included a visit to Edith Wharton’s estate, The Mount, kayaking at dawn at a nearby lake and a private cooking class given by Executive Chef, Bryce Whittlesey.

Chef Whittlesey’s menu included Duclair Duck with a Licorice Root Jus, Tartelette of Rabbit with Luques Olive Tapenade, a Medley of Spring Vegetables with Manni Olive Oil and a Strawberry and Meyer Lemon Parfait.

Wheatleigh’s impeccable service and flair was epitomized when General Manager, Francois Thomas delivered a box of freshly made Valhrona chocolates to each of the guests as a farewell gift at Pittsfield Airport.

The final stop was The Chanler, the first mansion one sees along on The Cliff Walk in Newport. Opened one year ago, the 20-room deluxe hotel has rooms that are each designed with a different theme. Food and Wine named The Chanler "One of the 15 Best New Luxury Hotels in the World."

Executive Chef Richard Hamilton presented his "Bounty of the Sea" dinner at The Chanler’s restaurant, Spiced Pear, which was named by The Providence Journal as the Number One Restaurant in Rhode Island just six months after it opened. Hamilton’s menu included; Tuna Salad with Lobster, Foie Gras, Mango and Port, Grilled Block Island Swordfish with Favas, Porcinis and a Sweet Pea Vinaigrette, and Rhode Island Oysters with Peekytoe Crab and Osetra Caviar.

In Newport, the group took two, private tours; of Doris Duke’s estate, "Rough Point" and of The National Museum of Illustrated Art, both housed in mansions on Bellevue Avenue. Laurence and Judy Cutler, owners and curators of the museum, have amassed the largest collection of American illustrations from the 19th and 20th century, including works of Maxfield Parrish, N.C. Wyeth and Norman Rockwell.

The journeyers sailed on "Gleam," a 12 meter, 1937 America’s Cup yacht that has been lovingly restored by Bob and Elizabeth Tiedemann. According to the couple, it is the only 1937 yacht in North America that has its original wood interior.

All three dinners presented the outstanding wines from Wölffer Estate in The Hamptons, New York, which were presented several days later at the G8 Conference in Sea Island, Georgia.
